SPOT Festival

May 5th-6th

While summer is the peak time for music festivals and events in Aarhus, SPOT warms us up each year, spanning venues throughout Aarhus on May 5th-6th.

Since 1994, SPOT has aimed to create a platform for Danish and Nordic artists, the line-up always including those new to the music scene as well as the more established.

“The festival has been a launching pad for Danish and Nordic artists all these years who want to conquer both the Danish and international stages,” the organisers say.

“It is a diverse, musical experience space, where people from the industry mingle with the audience in the pursuit of experiencing new trends and talents from music’s many layers of talents.”

The programme for SPOT 2023 will be uploaded onto www.spotfestival.dk closer to the event. Tickets are DKK 715 for both days, or DKK 480 for one day

Shortly after SPOT, and similarly named, is SPOR, a festival of sound and tone art also spanning venues in Aarhus including Institut for X, Godsbanen and turkis

“SPOR creates a platform for stronger connections to the international sound art and music scenes, and therefore fruitful exchange which can inspire artists and further develop the Danish contemporary music,” organisers write on their website, where you can find the full programme and buy tickets.

A day ticket costs DKK 100 + fee for people under 30, and DKK 150 + fee for adults over 30.

Cooperative Festival

May 12th-14th

Cafe Mellemfolk is a great place to turn to for any international-friendly events in Aarhus. In May, Mellemfolk Samvirke Aarhus will be holding a series of talks and workshops from the 12th–14th for their Cooperative Festival – and this year’s focus is on food.

We aim to show how the cooperative model can be used to support local food producers, consumers, and distributors to create a resilient, sustainable food system where the local economy answers the needs of the local people,” they write on their Facebook event

The Cooperative Festival will be a diverse mix of talks, workshops, networking, fun practical activities, and common eating.
