New cafe in Aarhus to serve free coffee all day

Coffee Collective has opened its doors in the Latin Quarter, and to celebrate its launch, it will be serving free coffee this Friday. Originating in Copenhagen, the cafe chain is now on the corner of Guldsmedgade and Klostergade, near Føtex Food.

This Friday,  24 March 2023, Coffee Collective will be serving free coffee from 7 in the morning to 19 in the evening.

The cafe has joined the abundancy of cafes that is Aarhus. Where Coffee Collective now sits, bookmarks an area known as the Latin Quarter, which is said to have been built in the late 14th Century after the city had received permission to demolish the Viking fortifications.

Many of the streets in the Latin Quarter, including Graven, become summer pedestrian streets later in the year, when the cafes, bars, and restaurants expand their sitting areas out onto the streets.

This is the Coffee Collective’s ninth location, but the first expansion outside of Copenhagen. Klaus Thomsen, co-founder of Coffee Collective, says that opening in Aarhus is a dream come true for the cafe.

“We’re thrilled to finally make that dream a reality,” he says. “We can’t wait to share our love for coffee with the people of Aarhus and become part of this dynamic community.”

Coffee Collective will also be hosting events in English. On Thursday 30 March, there will be a course on how to brew your own coffee, and that same evening, there will be a latte art competition, where anyone can compete for 50 kr.

Thomsen says that one of the main concepts behind the cafe is “radical transparency”, with a focus on generating financial sustainability for coffee producers. The business has been a certified B Corporation since 2019.

“Being a B Corp means being part of a growing community of companies that use their business as a force for good,” he says.

“Our customers should know exactly who the farmer is behind their coffee and how much they’ve been paid for it.”

Coffee Collective was founded in 2007 in Copenhagen. Their opening hours in Aarhus are: Mon-Fri: 7-19, Sat-Sun: 8-18.
